Use MBBG, a ⅔ acre demonstration garden, as a guide to planting an
Earth-friendly native garden at home, and create your own
wildlife habitat and bird/butterfly sanctuary.
Conserve water. Eliminate the need for fertilizers and pesticides. Attract birds and butterflies.
And save money. It's easy!
WHAT’S IN YOUR HABITAT?
The Manhattan Beach Botanical Garden is laid out in overlapping
habitats loosely based on those found in Southern California wildlands.
Each is defined by a plant community that:
Supports specific birds, insects, and other wildlife
Has its own unique sun, soil, slope and water requirements
Provides food, water, shelter and a place for wildlife to raise young
Learn more about the garden's plant and wildlife-rich habitats by clicking the photos below. "Rewild" your yard using elements of each which can be mimicked in the home garden.
